Chirancha Ambassador program, held by Minami-Kyushu City Tea Industry Promotion Association, was born in 2021 to raise interest in Chirancha – a local tea brand in Kyushu Prefecture. This year it was the 3rd time to hold it. The program has grown popular and this year there were more applications than available places. Determined by a lottery around 50 participants were able to join the program and learn more about Chirancha as well as taste some delicious local teas.
The program was held online and 4 sessions took place between August and September. A set of materials including the local teas, were mailed to everyone beforehand. The program covered Chirancha history, tea cultivars and tea production. Participants could even make their own unique tea blend as well as try their hand at making tea soap.
We hope the Chirancha Ambassador program will also be held next year. If interested, please keep an eye on the organizer website.
