The Second Edition of Japanese Tea: A Comprehensive Guide

We are delighted to share that our president, Simona Suzuki, released the Second Edition of her book Japanese Tea: A Comprehensive Guide in October 2025. The First Edition published in November 2017 was the very first English-language book dedicated entirely to understanding Japanese tea. Eight years later, the fully revised and expanded Second Edition is finally here!

Each chapter has been thoroughly reviewed, and the book has nearly double in size – from 97 to 175 pages. Still grounded in Simona’s personal experiences with Japanese tea, as well as insights from professionals in the tea industry and related fields, this new edition explores Japanese tea even more deeply. It covers everything from tea farming and processing to the various kinds of Japanese tea and their brewing methods, to tea regions, history, culture, and more.

In addition to the wealth of information already present in the First Edition, the Second Edition offers new information on tea cultivars and the processing of non-green Japanese teas along with a deeper look into the prominent tea regions of Japan.
